عن أبي العباس سهل بن سعد الساعدي رضي الله عنه، قال: جاء رجل إلى النبي ، فقال: ( يا رسول الله ! دلني على عمل إذا عملته أحبني الله وأحبني الناس )؛ فقال ازهد في الدنيا يحبك الله، وازهد فيما عند الناس يحبك الناس

حديث حسن، رواه ابن ماجه: ، وغيره بأسانيد حسنه

 

On the authority of Sahl bin Saad Al-Saedi, who said:

A man came to the prophet and said: "O Messenger of Allah, direct me to an act which, if I do it, will cause Allah to love me and people to love me." He said: "Renounce the world and Allah will love you, and renounce what people possess and people will love you."

a fine Hadith related by Ibn Majah and others with good chains of authorities.

 

 

Transgressing the Limits

عن أبي ثعلبة الخشني جرثوم بن ناشر رضي الله عنه، عن رسول الله ، قال: إن الله تعالى فرض فرائض فلا تضيعوها، وحد حدوداً فلا تعتدوها، وحرم أشياء فلا تنتهكوها، وسكت عن أشياء رحمةً لكم غير نسيان فلا تبحثوا عنها.

رواه الدارقطني وغيره

 

On the authority of Jurthum bin Nashir that the messenger of Allah said:

"Allah the Almighty has laid down religious duties, so do not neglect them. He has set boundaries, so do not over step them. He has prohibited some things, so do not violate them; about some things He was silent-out of compassion for you, not forgetfulness, so seek not after them."

A fine hadith related by Al-Daraqutni and others.

 

Reason For The Acceptance Of Prayer!

عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه، قال: قال رسول الله : إن الله تعالى طيب لا يقبل إلا طيباً، وإن الله أمر المؤمنين بما أمر به المرسلين فقال تعالى: يَا أَيُّهَا الرُّسُلُ كُلُوا مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَاعْمَلُوا صَالِحاً المؤمنون:51، وقال تعالى: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ كُلُواْ مِن طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ البقرة:172، ثم ذكر الرجل يطيل السفر أشعث أغبر يمد يده إلى السماء: يا رب ! يا رب ! ومطعمه حرام ومشربه حرام وملبسه حرام وغذي بالحرام فأنّى يستجاب له؟.

 

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, who said: the messenger of Allah said:

"Allah the Almighty is good and accepts only that which is good. Allah has commanded the faithful to do that which he commanded the messengers, and the Almighty has said: "O ye messengers! Eat of the good things and do right". And Allah the Almighty has said: "O ye who believe! Eat of the good things wherewith We have provided you"

Then he mentioned [the case of] a man who, having journeyed far, is dishevelled and dusty and who spreads out his hands to the sky [saying]: "O Lord! O Lord!" - while his food is unlawful, his drink unlawful, his clothing unlawful, and he is nourished unlawfully, so how can he be answered!”

 

Belief in Judgement and destiny (of Allaah)

عـن أبي العـباس عـبدالله بن عـباس رضي الله عـنهما، قــال: كـنت خـلـف النبي صلي الله عـليه وسلم يـوماً، فـقـال : يـا غـلام ! إني أعـلمك كــلمات: احـفـظ الله يـحـفـظـك، احـفـظ الله تجده تجاهـك، إذا سـألت فـاسأل الله، وإذا اسـتعـنت فـاسـتـعـن بالله، واعـلم أن الأمـة لـو اجـتمـعـت عـلى أن يـنـفـعـوك بشيء لم يـنـفـعـوك إلا بشيء قـد كـتـبـه الله لك، وإن اجتمعـوا عـلى أن يـضـروك بشيء لـم يـضـروك إلا بشيء قـد كـتـبـه الله عـلـيـك؛ رفـعـت الأقــلام، وجـفـت الـصـحـف.

رواه الترمذي: وقال: حديث حسن صحيح.

وفي رواية غير الترمذي: احفظ الله تجده أمامك، تعرف إلى الله في الرخاء يعرفك في الشدة، واعلم أن ما أخطأك لم يكن ليصيبك، وما أصابك لم يكن ليخطئك، واعلم أن النصر مع الصبر، وأن الفرج مع الكرب، وأن مع العسر يسراً.

 

On the authority of Abdullah bin Abbas, who said: One day I was behind the prophet and he said to me: "Young man, I shall teach you some words [of advice]: Be mindful of Allah, and Allah will protect you. Be mindful of Allah, and you will find Him in front of you. If you ask, ask of Allah; if you seek help, seek help of Allah. Know that if the Nation were to gather together to benefit you with anything, it would benefit you only with something that Allah had already prescribed for you, and that if they gather together to harm you with anything, they would harm you only with something Allah had already prescribed for you. The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried."

narrated by Tirmidhi, who said it is true and fine hadith

In a version other than that of Tirmidhi it reads:

"...Be mindful of Allah, you will find Him before you. Get to know Allah in prosperity and He will know you in adversity. Know that what has passed you by was not going to befall you; and that what has befallen you was not going to pass you by. And know that victory comes with patience, relief with affliction, and ease with hardship."

 

Honouring of Guest

عن أبي هـريـرة رضي الله عـنه، أن رســول الله قــال: مـن كـان يـؤمن بالله والـيـوم الآخر فـلـيـقـل خـيـراً أو لـيـصـمـت، ومـن كــان يـؤمن بالله واليـوم الآخر فـليكرم جاره، ومن كان يؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر فليكرم ضيفه.

رواه البخاري، ومسلم

 

Abu Hurairah narrated that the messenger of Allah said :

"Let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day either speak good or keep silent, and let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be generous to his neighbour, and let him who believes in Allah and the Last Day be generous to his guest."

related by Bukhari and Muslim

Note: Al-Ahkam al-Sharʿiyyah - The Rulings of the Sacred Law:

In the Shāfiʿī Madhhab (school of thought), the actions of those who are obligated to observe the precepts of religion take one of five rulings:

1. The Wājib (obligatory) action: One will be rewarded for performing them and will be liable for punishment upon abandoning them.

2. The Mandūb (recommended) action: One will be rewarded for performing them and will not be liable for punishment upon abandoning them.

3. The Mubāḥ (permissible) action: One will not be rewarded for performing them and will not be liable for punishment upon abandoning them.

4. The Makrūh (offensive) action: One will be rewarded for abandoning them and will not be liable for punishment upon performing them.

5. The Ḥarām (forbidden) action: One will be rewarded for abandoning them and will be liable for punishment upon performing them.

Hadith on Love: You will not enter Paradise until you love each other for the sake of Allah

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّى تُؤْمِنُوا وَلَا تُؤْمِنُوا حَتَّى تَحَابُّوا أَوَلَا أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَى شَيْءٍ إِذَا فَعَلْتُمُوهُ تَحَابَبْتُمْ أَفْشُوا السَّلَامَ بَيْنَكُمْ

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “You will not enter Paradise until you believe and you will not believe until you love each other. Shall I show you something that, if you did, you would love each other? Spread peace between yourselves. ”

أَنَّ عُبَادَةَ بْنَ الصَّامِتِ حَدَّثَهُمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مُسْلِمٌ يَدْعُو اللَّهَ بِدَعْوَةٍ إِلَّا آتَاهُ اللَّهُ إِيَّاهَا أَوْ صَرَفَ عَنْهُ مِنْ السُّوءِ مِثْلَهَا مَا لَمْ يَدْعُ بِإِثْمٍ أَوْ قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْقَوْمِ إِذًا نُكْثِرُ قَالَ اللَّهُ أَكْثَرُ

سنن الترمذي

Every Muslim can divert the misfortune of the divine decree with his supplications-

Ubadah ibn As-Samit reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said,

“There is no Muslim on the earth who calls upon Allah in supplication except that Allah will grant it to him or divert some evil away from him, so long as he does not ask for something sinful or cut off family ties.” A man said, “What if we ask for more?” The Prophet said, “With Allah is more.”
